Why We Exist

Simply put, we exist to ensure the thirst of our fellow brothers and sisters are quenched.

About The Living Water Church

Building Faith, Nurturing Community

The Living Water Church is dedicated to providing a welcoming environment for worship and spiritual development. We invite all to join us in our mission to spread love, foster meaningful relationships, and thrive as a community of believers.

As the City of Roanoke continues to grow, with a population of approximately 100,000, a fundamental need is emerging in the community of men, women, couples, and families: the need for community. In a community where people feel a sense of belonging and share specific fundamental values, the need for a church family in the Roanoke Valley has never been greater. As individuals, couples, and families move into Roanoke, as well as those that are either Indigenous or residents for the last couple of years, decades, or generations, everyone seems to share one thing in common: everyone is thirsty. Every single individual, from the youngest child to the most aged adult, is in need of spiritual hydration. Indeed, there must be somewhere to go to quench this thirst.

Nothing Else will do!

Food, fun, friends, pleasure, and fame cannot quench this thirst. Entertainment, such as movies, comedy, and sports theatre, cannot quench this thirst. Employment, working, and earning an income and livelihood cannot quench this thirst. Being popular and developing popularity does not quench this thirst. The more we try to quench the thirst within our hearts and souls, the more we realize nothing external can quench this thirst deep within our souls. Where do we go? To whom do we turn? These are legitimate questions that must be asked and answered.

Good News!
The good news is that we are not alone, but in good company, we all share the same thirst. The thirst of the soul, for purpose, for meaning, for acceptance, for belonging, for identity, for knowing who we are and why we exist, the thirst for significance, for legacy, thirst to matter, to make a difference, thirst to know and be known, Friends, it is this thirst that lives within every single individual that has traveled across hundreds and thousands of miles, and brought us as transplants to the city of Roanoke. Yes, employment, opportunities, and families brought us here, but it is more significant than these factors. The thirst played a more prominent role than we realized. The thirst is the common denominator and parallel we all share. This thirst connects us all from different backgrounds and nations together as we seek to quench the thirst.

Only One

All share this thirst and has a common origin; its root is divine, meaning it was intentionally placed within us by the Creator. The city of Roanoke is thirsty and in need of spiritual hydration, and the only one who can quench its thirst is the same one who created or planted the thirst within us in the first place. The good news is you can have the thirst of your soul quenched by the very one who planted it there, for Only Him can satisfy the appetite of the soul; that parched vacuole within can only be filled by Himself and nothing else.

Here is a place!

There is a place that exists, and there are many of us here, but the difference between us and those who have faithfully been here before us (and we are thankful for them all) is this: we exist for one reason: to see the thirst of the soul quenched by the Living Water. Welcome to The Living Water Church, a place where you are not just a member, but a cherished part of the family. The doors are open, the seats have been reserved and prepared for you, and we welcome you here to be a part of the family where God is, lives, and is working in the hearts and minds of similar persons like you and me, working in us both to will and do his good pleasure, working in us to quench the thirst of our souls with himself.

The Living Water Church aspires to be a community of faith that meets its members' and worshippers' spiritual, emotional, and social needs. Taking the Roanoke Valley into consideration, RCCG Roanoke—The Living Water Church is committed to being a welcoming, engaging, loving, godly, Christian place and space where individuals, couples, and families can connect with God, with each other, and with their community.

Spiritual Bedrock

In the Gospels of St. John, chapter 4, verse 10, the Samaritan woman encounters Jesus at the well. He assures her he will provide her with "Living water," which she will drink and never thirst again..
